Tutorial for Stewarding Agility Trials
Ever been afraid to volunteer at an agility trial because you didn't know what jobs you could do? Ever wonder what a Gate Steward does?
Well, wonder no more. I have all the answers right here.
In the next bunch of pages I outline what jobs there are at an agility trial and what each job entails. Jobs ranging from the so simple a two year old can do it (literally) to jobs that would cause a Navy fighter pilot to swoon.
What's to be done?
Leadership Roles
There are two main leadership jobs that are in-scope for this page. Those are:
- Chief Ring Steward
- Ring Captain
There are other jobs that fit into this category, but I've decided to hold off on describing these for now. Eventually this modest start of a tutorial will expand to cover the whole of running an agility trial from inception to post-trial wrap-up.
Ringside Jobs
There are seven jobs that need to be done at an agility trial that are directly ringside. (Or in one case, in the ring.) These jobs are:
- Gate Steward
- Scribe
- Timer
- Assistant Scribe
- Score Runner
- Leash Runner
- Bar Setter (AKA Ring Crew)
